SERVICES
Communications Strategy, Public Relations, Branding, Event + Fundraising Support, Website Creation
Local nonprofit PRISM uses a dignity-centered approach to connect community members to resources for food, housing, and other basic needs. While best known for its food shelf, the organization also offers housing assistance, back-to-school and birthday party supplies, and a holiday toy shop for kids and their families. The talented team at PRISM also runs a thrift store, Shop for Change, which offers low-cost items for the community while generating revenue to support programming. Over the past few years, volunteerism and donations have decreased dramatically while need has increased at record rates. PRISM needed to raise awareness of its mission to reach new audiences and inspire donors to meet the community’s ever-growing needs.
overarching communications strategy
Field Guide created a customized overarching communications strategy through an engaged and collaborative discovery phase and landscape assessment. Field Guide got to work - establishing key messaging to work across a large range of different audiences: program participants with ever-changing demographics, individual donors, corporate sponsors, volunteers, and people who shop at thrift stores, to name just a few. The new messaging provided a solid foundation which we used to work on many projects, including a new website, refreshed logo, social media content strategy, paid marketing initiatives, media pitching, event strategy, and more. We also served as trusted advisors as PRISM’s growing team navigated an extra challenging time, providing recommendations on internal communications and operations.
The Outcome
a sustainable model for internal and external communications
Our customized media plan secured print, broadcast, and digital coverage from local and national news outlets. The new website is cleaner and easier to navigate for both those wishing to connect to resources and those wanting to support PRISM’s mission. Successful (and fun!) events and fundraising allowed the team to focus on its mission and operations. We continue to collaborate with the leadership team at PRISM to build more communications infrastructure, creating foundational training materials to optimize internal talent. Our shared goal is to create a comprehensive and sustainable model for both internal and external communications.
